Interesting Photo of the Day: Perfect Lighting at Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park

We’re not kidding when we say landscape photographers are picky about the light. Interesting light creates interesting images. Have a look at the following image by photographer Simon Ennals:

He hiked to the same viewpoint at Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia four times within 36 hours just because the lighting wasn’t right.

We can see why Ennals waited for the perfect conditions. With the sun lighting the mountain from the side, the textures have been highlighted perfectly. Adding further drama to the image are the colorful, dark clouds hovering above the beautiful landscape.

His composition works well, too. With the mountain framed right in the middle, he has used the trees at the bottom as leading lines to direct viewers toward the mountain.

Persistence really pays off well. Don’t give up when lighting conditions aren’t in your favor.
