Today I was very pleased to interview Niklas Daniel, a professional skydiving aerial photographer who has spent his career up in the sky. The skills required to capture great shots in the air are very unique and require a great deal of training and practice. Not only do you have to be up to speed on how to take great photos (without using your hands), you have to be an expert flier in freefall, an expert canopy pilot, and you have to manage the additional risk that comes with carrying the camera equipment. Niklas Daniel is widely regarded as one of the best photographers in the industry.

Sony today introduced two new α cameras (models SLT-A55V and SLT-A33) that adopt Sony’s newly-developed Translucent Mirror Technology, which achieves the highest-level of auto focus speed for both still image and movie shooting. Translucent Mirror Technology provides performance previously unattainable with traditional DSLR technology. Using the new technology, theα55 andα33 models can continuously and quickly focus (with TTL phase-detection) while shooting stills and recording video—even in full HD, allowing desired moments to be captured in tack sharp focus, high-definition video.

The pro-shooter seizing the last summer sunsets with the S95 camera, the dad recording his son leaving for college on the SD4500 IS model, the aunt capturing a photo of her nephew’s football team with the SX130 IS camera – these new PowerShot cameras showcase extraordinary image quality with every shot.

Along with the a33 and a55 cameras (also announced today), the α560 model is one of the only DSLR cameras with Multi-frame Noise Reduction, Sweep Panorama mode, 3D Sweep Panorama and Full HD 1920×1080 60i video capture. This 14.2 megapixel α560 camera offers the same features of its predecessor, the innovative α550, which introduced Quick AF Live View, 7fps continuous shooting and Auto HDR to the step-up DSLR class.
