Canon today announced a new flagship model in its most popular EOS Rebel line, the Canon EOS Rebel T4i Digital SLR Camera. Expedition 31 Flight Engineer Don Pettit says, “My star trail images are made by taking a time exposure of about 10 to 15 minutes. However, with modern digital cameras, 30 seconds is about the longest exposure possible, due to electronic detector noise effectively snowing out the image. To achieve the longer exposures I do what many amateur astronomers do. I take multiple 30-second exposures, then ‘stack’ them using imaging software, thus producing the longer exposure.”

I’m glad the author addressed some of the valuable apps; he could have gone into more detail about using them but at least provides a good introductory foundation.

Yahoo can’t catch a break. Within a week of their CEO being thrown out for lying on his resume, Gizmodo just published an excellent detailed article chronicling the company’s turbulent history and continuous decline entitled How Yahoo Killed Flickr. Previously one of the most popular photo sharing services, it is quickly being left behind in the industry. I personally hated having to create a Yahoo login in order to then create a Flickr login following the acquisition, Gizmodo chronicles all these decision points.
