Incredible Timelapse of New Zealand: Amplitude

New Zealand—both the nature lover and photographer’s dream. An island nation known for its utterly breath taking landscapes—from deep fjords, sky high waterfalls, ancient glaciers and rolling hills. It is hard to capture the true beauty and essence of a place on film. However, Martin Heck did a really, really good job of it:

Heck filmed for over four months and describes experiencing priceless moments:

“Driving through amazing scenery, sleeping in caves under a sky of glowworms, hiking through the bush, exploring hidden canyons and floating with all the gear on my lap through glowworm caves.”

For part two of the five part series, Heck filmed on location at Fjordland NP, Karamea/Oparara Basin and “Metro Cave” in Charlston, NZ. Filming also took place at Lake Matheson, Jackson Head, and Haast Pass. Glide through stunning visuals of majestic treescapes, lush forest watering holes, and twinkling glowworm caves. The video is equally as stunning as its part one counterpart titled Awakening: New Zealand 4k Timelapse.

Heck used several pieces of equipment to capture the incredible scenery, including two cameras, a Canon EOS 6D, and a Canon EOS 550D, and four lenses, Canon 24-105mm f/4L, Canon 70-200 f/4L, Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6,and Samyang 14mm f/2.8. The setup included a Dynamic Perception Stage One – Slider and an eMotimo TB3 Black – Pan/Tilt Head.

The footage was then processed and edited with Lightroom 5, LRTimelapse, After Effects, and Premiere Pro CS6.

We’re left with remarkable footage that lets us be armchair travelers.
