These Self Portraits Are Weird—In a Good Way

Weird can be a good thing. Self portraiture often comes down to the common selfie. But here we have some amazing images by Mari Hokkanen that creatively deviate from the expected:

It’s not every day that you see so much work put into creating a scene for a single shot. I went through the shots on her website, as well and realized that there are no repeated scenes. Every scene is tailor made for each image. That requires a fair amount of dedication and a great amount of creativity. I like the fact that there isn’t much manipulation done to the images. Every bit of detail is handmade. As you can see in some images, there is a lot of paper crafting, flower arranging, and all sorts of other details. Dedication of that scale is always welcomed in the world of photography.

Nothing good about these “selfies” at all! More like the nightmares of a scary psycho. Technically well done, maybe, but nothing I would want to look at nor anything I would want to refer a friend to.

Definitely not my style!!! Reminds me of trash and death.
