New Upcoming Photoshop Features

Over the course of the past couple weeks the Adobe Photoshop team has been rolling out a series of videos highlighting selected features of the popular photo editing software. Photoshop, well known for it’s vast array of time saving techniques, has established itself as the leader in image editing. Popular additions to the later versions of Photoshop have been the Content Aware options. In a video done by Photoshop Senior Product Manager, Bryan O’Neil Hughes, users are given an example and brief tutorial on the Content Aware Fill function using the ability to paste pixel data from any area of the photograph. Learn more about Content Aware Fill in the following video:

Also in the above video, Hughes gives a rundown of the Content Aware Move tool, which, very quickly and handily, allows you to move large and small objects alike while avoiding the time consuming task of using Layer Masks. As an avid Photoshop user, the Content Aware Move tool, is hands down one of my favorite features. It’s a very cool technology and definitely worth a try.

Those of you already using Camera Raw for Photoshop, will enjoy the updated basic control panel and new users to the plug-in will revel in how simple it makes completing basic editing functions. As Hughes discusses in the following video clip, Camera Raw has been further improved on with the latest edition of Highlights, Shadows, and a Whites slider. The Adjustment Brush and Graduated Filter features have also been souped up. Get an in-depth look at the sleek new design, here:

It’s worth noting that the overall appearance of Photoshop has been slightly modified by a darker interface, with the idea of making Photoshop more familiar to users of it’s sister program Adobe Lightroom, and video editing software, Adobe Premiere.

There is still no official release date for Photoshop CS6…

Very impressive. I think the most exciting feature so far is the interface update — I’m a sucker for that kind of thing.
