The Old New World is a photo-based animation project created by Russian photographer and animator Alexey Zakharov. This amazing animation is set to the music of Guilty by Al Bowlly and based almost exclusively on vintage photography. Using the images he found from various cities of the United States, Zakharov transports you back to the early 1900s with a unique steampunk time machine vibe:
The four minute film took over a year to create, with the idea coming to Zakharov after visiting the Shorpy website. The film takes you back in time to Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, New York, and Washington, D.C. from sometime between 1900 and 1940. He created the majority of the video using a camera projection technique.

Each image required Zakharov to remove the moving and static elements to create a 3D model for the animations. Once completed, he began the second stage: creation of full computer graphics of various animals, people, vehicles, and other relevant details. He ends the animation by using a composite process to create the unique layers.

The video is very interesting but lacks sufficient imagination. Needless elaboration at start which took away much time. Ending is repetitive.
