Somebody please, please, please ‘splain to me why I should be interested in Lightroom … I’m moderately proficient in Photoshop and other editing programs, I think, but I keep hearing about Lightroom. Isn’t it just a dumbed-down Photoshop … or is there some magic happening here that I don’t know about? I’m absolutely serious … am always looking to take my images to that next level and would love to know more from folks who really understand both programs!! Thank you!!!

I am still new to Lightroom myself, but it’s strong features are organizing, sorting, and searching your photos. It also has some easier tools for doing HDR and Panoramics (in the latest CC/6 version). It has built-in integration to Photoshop, so it enables a workflow from downloading your photos from your camera, batch renaming during import, copy/conversion from RAW to either DNG or PSD or TIFF during import, adding keywords and metadata to groups of photos, basic editing, and then connecting to Photoshop for more advanced editing/compositing. That’s my take.

An excellent follow on to your previous tutorial on sharpening. Very helpful walking us through the example here. Many thanks
