Trash the Dress Wedding Photo Idea Almost Gone Very Wrong

Weddings call for many traditions, some expected and some very unusual. Take into account the different cultural backgrounds and the wedding ceremony gets even longer. The Trash the Dress tradition is one that takes place not on the day of the wedding itself, but on a separate occasion. It is a style of wedding photography that involves contrasting the elegant wedding gowns with a harsher background.

Such photoshoots take place on rooftops, city streets, garages, fields, beaches and abandoned buildings. The term, “Trash the Dress” comes from the assumption that the bride may very well ruin the dress by getting it dirty, wet, ripped, or in this case, burnt:

No, the photo is not Photoshopped. The flames are real and are licking its way up the dress. Just before the fire reaches the bride, she runs toward the ocean to put out the flames and the photo assistant is left to douse whatever propellant is left on the beach with a fire extinguisher. All this in a matter of seconds. Captured by White Studio Photography (Via Petapixel).

Trash the Dress gone too far? Perhaps, but there’s no denying that it resulted in a cool photo.

Situations like this is precisely why Photoshop was made for. Much safer, though I do agree, the outcome picture is amazing! :)

Idiotic. On so many levels. I’m not fond of the final shot, either.

If you’ve ever seen the damage and years of reconstructive surgery required when burning clothing melts to the human body you’d understand just how moronic this attempt was. Permanent disfigurement of a new bride seems like an unreasonable risk for any pic.

Then there’s the intentional pollution of the habitat…

  3. Tiffany says:

Great shot but dumb idea. Total disregard for the beach ecosystem….let’s add more pollutants to the ocean water because we don’t really think it harms us but who cares about the ocean life. Lot’s of “what-if’s” here. I hope they made her sign a waiver releasing them of any responsibility if something fatal happened or something damaging. I bet she was just thinking “wow what a cool picture”

Not only totally stupid, this is also irresponsible!!! See the sheen on the damp sand from the flammable liquid used??? THAT IS POLLUTION AND NO ONE SHOULD BE INTENTIONALLY ADDING IT TO OUR WATERS!!!!

  5. Jan says:

    Unbelievable stupid.

  6. Jocelyn says:

wow, hope that photographer has really good insurance so easy for this to go wrong. Sue Bryce encourages a session called Glam the Dress, think I’d stick with that far safer

Wow, what a stupid risk to take for a photo. Geez…
