LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., September 14, 2006 – Canon's new SELPHY ES1
Compact Photo Printer makes printing high quality postcard-size
photos as much fun and easy as taking pictures. With an
innovative new vertical design, integrated paper and ink
cartridge system and Canon's DIGIC II imaging processor, this
stylish and functional new printer is easy to use and offers a
wide range of creative printing and photo correction/enhancement
options. The SELPHY ES1 Compact Photo Printer's innovative new
paper handling technology allows it to maintain its vertical
design, decreases its footprint (compared to other SELPHY
models) and increases the "cool" factor for printing.
"We understand that design is a key decision factor in consumer

new dye sublimation printer with an original design and

Fun, Speedy and Super Easy
The printer's vertical design and integrated ink and paper
cassette not only gives it a smaller footprint, but also makes
watching the printing process fun for all. The SELPHY ES1
printer is the only printer to offer the ink and paper together
in one cassette. This eliminates the need for a separate paper
tray and allows for fast and easy ink/paper replacement. Having
the paper and ink integrated also means no worries about running
out of one or the other or wasting ink when the paper supply is
depleted. The integrated cassette feeds the paper, and then the
printer automatically rotates it externally - in plain view – to
continue the four stage printing process. The result is a
brilliant, high-resolution photo with a protective UV clear coat
ready for the refrigerator, frame, or family photo album.
Refills for the SELPHY ES1 Compact Photo Printer are also easy
to find at authorized dealers. Consumers will recognize new easy
to spot packages that are clearly labeled for the SELPHY ES1
Compact Photo Printer with large letters that correspond to the
paper type. Ink and paper cartridges for color postcards come in
both 50 and 25 sheet packs and the printer now has a counter, so
users know exactly how many prints they have left. Optional
paper sizes include black-and-white postcards and credit card
size color prints.
Designed For a Variety of Lifestyles
The SELPHY ES1 printer includes a retractable handle that
emphasizes portability, fun and style. Add in the optional
rechargeable battery and consumers can have a printer that is at
home anywhere they need it – on the kitchen counter, in the car,
at a birthday party, almost anywhere. The built-in retractable
USB cable easily connects to most digital cameras, so users do
not have to carry extra cables, and the memory card slots accept
most of today's flash memory cards1. Users can also print
wirelessly from such devices as camera phones2 with the embedded
infrared slot or from a Bluetooth3 enabled device with the
optional adaptor.
Users can easily navigate through the printer's menu systems
using the bright and adjustable 2.5-inch LCD screen to select
and edit photos or display a slide show from a compatible memory
card. This screen also allows people to trim their photos to a
variety of sizes and correct red-eye while the auto-rotate
function automatically flips the photo the correct way for
viewing. The SELPHY ES1 compact photo printer uses thermal dye
technology to print razor sharp, high-resolution 300 x 600 dpi
photos4, with or without a computer.
Users can also enjoy built-in templates that add fun to photos
like speech bubbles to give photos a voice, and calendar
creation. Consumers will also find Canon's popular "My Colors"
function (from Canon's line of PowerShot digital cameras) built
into the printer, which gives most digital camera users the
ability to create a custom look to any photo.
The DIGIC Difference
The SELPHY ES1 Compact Photo Printer incorporates Canon's
proprietary DIGIC II imaging processor, which is the same
processor that gives Canon digital cameras superb speed, picture
quality and color reproduction. The result is a printer that has
the ability to automatically correct and enhance printed images
from most digital cameras. In addition to automatic red eye
correction and exposure correction, the processor also controls
the temperature of the 1,208 printing electrodes that produce
the photograph, delivering a clean and crisp print in
approximately 60 seconds5.

October, for an estimated selling price of $249.996.
