Epson Stylus Pro 11880 News Release Summary:
Epson America Expands Its Professional Line of Printers to 64-Inch Wide Format With Introduction of Epson Stylus Pro 11880 Featuring New MicroPiezo TFP Print Head Technology

LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Epson America Inc. today announced its first 64-inch wide format printer for creative professionals, commercial print shops and photographic labs with the Epson Stylus® Pro 11880. Not only is this printer designed to produce levels of image quality that exceed our previous best, but it does so with print speeds that are up to two times faster than any other Stylus Pro model to date.

The Epson Stylus Pro 11880 achieves this combination of image quality and speed by way of a new and extremely advanced print head technology called MicroPiezo® TFP™ (Thin Film Piezo). This breakthrough technology represents Epson's most advanced ink jet print head throughout the company's long history of engineering milestones, and is being featured exclusively in the Epson Stylus Pro 11880.

"The Epson Stylus Pro 11880 represents our ultimate expression of the Stylus Pro brand," said Mark Radogna, group product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America. "This Stylus Pro 11880 was developed by a special team within Seiko Epson's renowned engineering department and what they've accomplished with this new technology will result in establishing yet another new industry benchmark for professional-level photographic printing."

All-New MicroPiezo TFP Print Head Technology

In addition to achieving the highest level of ink droplet accuracy, Epson's new MicroPiezo TFP print head features a wide array of engineering firsts and unique end-user benefits such as:

-- New ink repelling coating technology that contributes to dramatically
reducing nozzle clogs
-- World's highest resolution piezo print head ever developed with 360
smart nozzles per inch, each of which produces a variety of droplet
sizes as small as 3.5 picoliters achieving print resolution levels as
high as 2,880 x 1,440 dpi
-- 9-channel ink system that allows for simultaneous use of all inks
without having to manually swap cartridges
-- New Epson AccuPhotoâ„¢ HD screening technology to achieve even higher
degrees of print image quality

Only Eight Colors Needed to Achieve Superior Image Quality
Epson UltraChrome K3â„¢ ink technology is the industry standard by which all other professional-level ink technologies are judged. Enhanced even further now by Epson's new breakthrough Vivid Magenta pigments, this new generation ink technology requires only eight colors -- Cyan, Vivid Magenta, Yellow, Black, Light Cyan, Vivid Light Magenta, Light Black, and Light Light Black -- to significantly raise the quality levels for professional color and black-and-white prints.
