Interesting Photo of the Day: Mirrored Shack

Photography is all about light. Optical illusions are all about perception of light. When you put the two together, you get something amazing:

Since the desert looks practically the same wherever you turn, the view in a mirror placed in a desert-scape can look transparent. And if you attach mirrors all over a shack in Joshua Tree, California, you get something pretty awesome.

This photo is from a light based project called Lucid Stead designed and executed by Royale Projects. Over 400 people came to visit and experience the project, which during the day reflected the surroundings and at night glowed at the full color spectrum. It gained quite a lot attention and it positively surprised the viewers. In the following video, Smith shares more about his vision:

“Lucid Stead is about tapping into the quiet and the pace of change of the desert. When you slow down and align yourself with the desert, the project begins to unfold before you. It reveals that it is about light and shadow, reflected light, projected light, and change.”
