Interesting Photo of the Day: Antelope Canyon

Arizona isn’t always over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. There are parts that actually have snow in the winter, and the differences between southern and northern Arizona are summed up by the weather patterns. In other words, don’t expect to sunbathe in Phoenix on a winter vacation and come to Horseshoe Canyon later that week in a t-shirt:

Photographer Stanley Lock took this photograph at Antelope Canyon in northeast Arizona, which is about a three hour drive north of Phoenix. Although there are many attractions to visit in the surrounding area near Flagstaff, this one in particular strikes many as a beautiful, serene location that attracts photographers from all over.

The glow and color in this photo demonstrate the effectiveness of using light to your benefit to capture shadows and create contrast. The attention to detail shows in the grains of sand that can clearly be seen around the beam of light.
