Berlin Celebrates 25th Anniversary of the Fall of the Wall

On November 9th, 1989, a peaceful revolution culminated in the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany, thus laying the groundwork for the reunification of East and West Germany. Brothers Christopher and Marc Bauder developed a city-wide art installation/public event to commemorate the fall, called Lichtgrenze (“border of light”):

A total of 8,000 helium balloons were placed along the former location of the wall, and the city took to the streets to release the balloons on November 9, 2014.
