Panasonic PV-GS90 News Release Summary:
Panasonic expands its 2008 camcorder line with four new models, hybrid SD card/hdd, DVD and MiniDV tape.

Las Vegas, NV (January 6, 2008) – Panasonic, a leader in High Definition and digital video technologies, today announces four new models to its 2008 camcorder line-up, including the SDR-H60 and SDR-H40 hybrid SD Card and hard disk drive (HDD) models; the VDR-D50, which records to DVD discs; and the PV-GS90, which records to miniDV tapes.

“The enhancement of our camcorder line shows we understand there are different consumers who prefer specific recording media, and we want to accommodate them all with high-quality camcorders that will help them capture video in a format that is easiest for them to playback,” said Alex Fried, National Marketing Manager, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company. “Our new models offer consumers the versatility they want, and the features they need to capture their memories.”

All four models, the SDR-H60/H40 (SD/HDD), VDR-D50 (DVD), and PV-GS90 (MiniDV) boast Panasonic's Advanced MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), which detects and corrects hand-shake approximately 4,000 times per second, about eight times more effective than Panasonic’s previous systems. The SDR-H60 features a super-powerful 50x optical zoom, while the SDR-H40, VDR-D50, and PV-GS90 each offer a 42x optical zoom.

Capture Vivid Images Even in Dim Lighting
When illumination is insufficient, turn on this camcorder's built-in LED video light to take crisp, colorful movies. The LED (light emitting diode) has low power consumption, long service life, and the safety of a low-operating temperature. Or leave the light off and turn on the MagicPix® function to capture sharp images with color even in dim lighting (1 lux). Light from the LCD is gentle and easy on the eyes, so you can snap shots of sleeping children without waking them up.

One-Touch Navigation
With One-Touch Navigation, just press the center of the joystick to display an operating menu. The operations you use most often appear right on the monitor, so it's easy to change settings or operate the camera without looking away from your subject.

Give Your Subjects Smoother-Looking Skin
The Soft Skin function detects skin tones, softening the focus on those areas. This has a skin-beautifying effect, which makes wrinkles and lines appear less noticeable. When turned on, this function makes blemishes and moles look less conspicuous while preserving resolution in areas of the picture and outside of the skin.

The PV-GS90 is available in February 2008 with a MSRP of $279.
