Samsung SC-X205WL News Release Summary:
SAMSUNG’S 2006 Sports Camcorders Offer Easy & Extreme Video Recording…Hands Free

New SC-X205WL Sports Camcorders Offer Hands-free Wireless Recording from up to 15 Feet

Ridgefield Park, NJ - Global video innovator Samsung Electronics builds on the success of its ground breaking Sports Camcorder line with four second-generation models: the SC-X205L, the CES Innovations Award winning SC-X210L, and the wireless and SC-X205WL. The new models offer enhanced movie quality and memory (up to 2GB), approximately 25% improvement in recording time, close to a 30% improvement in battery life, and an enhanced 10x optical zoom. All four new Sports Camcorders feature Samsung's signature hands-free lens that allows on-the-go consumers to capture their adventures on video., and the new SC-X210WL take the action one step further, with a wireless auxiliary lens. Also, the Sports Camcorders are multipurpose 6-in-1 devices; consumers can use each as a camcorder, still camera, web cam, MP3 player, voice recorder and data storage device. Consumers can go to www.samsungsportscamcorder.com to post or view user videos and other extreme content.

"Samsung created a new camcorder category in 2005 with the original hard drive based Sports Camcorder. This product remains as the only product of its kind on the market today," said Aaron Novak, marketing manager for camcorders, Samsung Electronics America. "This year's models add longer battery life, expanded storage capacity and enhanced movie quality to an award-winning design. They provide consumers with a quality picture and the flexibility that fits their active lifestyles. We are proud to introduce the wireless sports camcorder as the next step in demonstrating Samsung's ability to quickly turn consumer functionality desires into reality. In 2005 our customers and retail partners said 'wouldn't it be great if this was wireless,' and here it is."

The SC-X205WL Sports Camcorder feature a wireless auxiliary lens that allows adventurous users to film at distances of up to 15 feet from the camcorder via a radio frequency (RF) signal. For example, consumers can leave the main unit in their backpack as they film footloose, wireless and hands-free. The SC-X210WL offer 512MB and 1GB of built-in flash memory, respectively, and an improved-life battery to maximize usability time. Made specifically with the outdoor traveler and extreme sports devotee in mind, the unit is compact, rugged and fits easily into pockets, backpacks and other gear. The unique auxiliary lens module comes with an armband and headband for added hands free convenience.

The MPEG4 ASP compression format provides increased-quality movie clip capture, and Samsung's electronic image stabilizer helps minimize blur. A 680K CCD and 10x optical/100x digital zoom allow consumers to capture their athletic feats in superb clarity. Users can set up and view a shot through its 2.0" LCD and grab additional footage or stills off of an SD or MMC memory card. As a versatile multi-function device for the active consumer, the SC-X210L doubles as an MP3 player, voice recorder and data storage device. The unit also includes a carrying case and webcam module.

The SC-X205WL will be available in September 2006 at $579.99 MAP.
