The SanDisk Corporation announced today
that Kyocera Wireless is going to use the SanDisk TransFlash
Storage Card in their new
Kyocera Slider Remix™ KX5 mobile phone.

SUNNYVALE,
CA - July 12, 2005 - SanDisk® Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) today
announced that Kyocera Wireless, a leading global manufacturer
of CDMA wireless phones and devices, will bundle a SanDisk
TransFlash™ memory card with the new Kyocera Slider Remix™ KX5
mobile phone, a full-featured handset that incorporates a
high-resolution digital camera and music playback functions as
well as other digital entertainment features.
The advanced KX5 features a 2-inch TFT
color display, a music player with three-dimensional stereo
sound, video capture capabilities, and a digital camera with
1.3-megapixel resolution. The phone will be packaged and sold*
with a SanDisk TransFlash card. The card slot in the handset can
also accommodate high-capacity TransFlash cards that SanDisk
offers at retail.
The SD Card Association (SDA), an
industry-standards setting organization for the SD card and its
applications, recently adopted TransFlash as the new storage
card format for handsets and renamed it the "microSD" card.
microSD cards are fully compatible with TransFlash cards and
will be fully supported by Kyocera and other handset
manufacturers.

Key features of the Kyocera KX5 include:

both MP3 and AAC formats
- 1.3 megapixel camera with built-in
flash and 5x digital zoom
- Up to 15 seconds of video capture
- Large 176 x 220 TFT, 262K-color
display.
SanDisk was involved in integrating the
TransFlash slot into the phone and provided a SanDisk Software
Development Tool Kit to Kyocera Wireless to access the card and
support multimedia files. The integration also optimizes
performance and low power consumption for multimedia data.
SanDisk TransFlash cards can be used with
an included adapter that allows them to be used in any of the
existing devices with SD card slots. Offered for sale through
retail markets, TransFlash cards are available in capacities up
to 256-megabytes and are sold at more than 110,000 retail
outlets where SanDisk products are sold worldwide.
