Digital Cameras - How Many Megapixels do we Really Need?

In the digital photography world today most of us mainly worried about megapixels.  But how many megapixels do we need for our digital cameras?  Most of us never ever make a print bigger than an 8x10 which only requires 1.6 megapixels.

Charles Kerekes recently wrote an article about the issue of megapixels in cameras entitled:  "How Many Megapixels do we Need?".  He pointed out that we always seem to want a camera with more megapixels.  Charles then asked, "Do we really need more and more pixels?"

Charles showed that we really don't need very many megapixels to make the size prints that most of us use.

Charles' different subtopics were:

  • Determine Image Use

  • Determine Largest Print Size

  • Focus On Other Camera Features

It's a very well done article if you are struggling to be satisfied with your current digital camera.
