Common Mistakes Made in Photoshop Editing
Sean David Baylis writes, "Photoshop is a wonderful
program that allows you to edit a photograph in as many ways as
you can imagine. It allows you to control every aspect of a
photograph and gives you editing tools that a traditional
photographer could only dream about. With this wide range of
editing and compositing tools comes the ability to create
fantastic works of art."

Fujifilm Finepix F20 Review at Photography Blog
Photography Blog wrote a review of the
Fujifilm FinePix F20
and said: "Not expecting so much from the lesser-specified F20, I
was presently surprised. In not placing so many demands on
performance, chiefly not unduly overstretching itself (and its SR
chip) as regards ISO, Fujifilm has delivered a minor triumph. Though
of course you're going to lose detail shooting above ISO 800, I was
also surprised how much was retained. Any unusable images were due
more to camera shake, and resultant image blur, than image noise,
which is perhaps one area that Fujifilm has yet to adequately
address."

Expressing Light and Color in Autumn Photography
Melissa Mannon writes, "Autumn is my favorite time for
taking pictures. The color in autumn images is brilliant and
warm. Most people think of beautiful New England landscapes when
they think of peak leaf peeping season. I think about the
brilliant light and backdrop of color for my chosen fields of
photography -- floral and portraiture. Certainly, fall’s reds,
yellows, and oranges make brilliant subjects. Alternatively,
however, the brightly colored leaves make a beautiful backdrop
for the remaining garden flowers or for wonderful natural light
portraits."

Samsung NV10 Review at DPReview
DP Review wrote a review of the
Samsung NV10
and said: "Image quality (contrast and saturation issues
aside) is pretty much on a par with most 7-10MP competitors (there's
little if any advantage to be gained from the extra pixels) - and at
ISO 100 the soft touch approach to noise reduction actually produces
better than average low contrast detail. At ISO 400 and over noise
is a real problem, but for small prints high ISO results are just
about usable if the light is so low you've got no other choice."

Tips on Photographing People
Low Jeremy writes, "Unlike taking photos of inanimate
objects, photographing people can be more difficult as they are
dynamic. They move. They can think for themselves. This is the
reason why it is much harder for one to anticipate their moves
and their expression. One needs to be always in his toes when
capturing people. A great deal of experience is needed to be
able to produce a great picture."

Nikon Coolpix S7c Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Nikon Coolpix S7c
and said: "Image quality from the Coolpix S7c was generally
very pleasing, though as can be expected, at its highest ISO
settings, images became rather noisy. Colors were accurate and well
saturated, though not oversaturated. Exposures were generally
accurate and tended to sacrifice highlights to preserve shadow
detail on the most difficult scenes. The automatic white balance did
a very good job of serving up neutral colors with our lab's tungsten
lights."

Nikon Coolpix
S10 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Nikon Coolpix S10
and said: "Nikon does some things right with the Coolpix S10,
most notably the lens and the versatile twist design, but its noise
performance could definitely improve and we'd like to see them
include some more advanced controls. With significant improvements
in these two areas alone, Nikon's swivel-cams might be able to
reclaim the status they once had as some of the most innovative and
desirable compact cameras around."

Nikon Coolpix
S9 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Nikon Coolpix S9
and said: "The Coolpix S9 produced pleasing images with
accurate-looking and adequately saturated colors, though the images
weren't quite as sharp as we've seen from some other ultracompacts,
such as Sony's T series. We saw small amounts of barrel distortion
at the lens' widest setting and even smaller amounts of pincushion
distortion at its longest telephoto setting."

Kodak EasyShare Z710 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Kodak EasyShare Z710
and said: "The EasyShare Z710's image quality was neither bad nor
impressive in our tests. As usual, colors were accurate and
adequately saturated. At lower ISOs, the camera was able to capture
oodles of detail; we were even able to discern the individual hairs
on the plush ape in our test scene. The camera's high-quality lens
no doubt helped in this and showed almost no noticeable distortion,
even at the wide and telephoto extremes of its zoom range."

Olympus FE-180 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Olympus FE-180
and said: "The Olympus FE-180 is a fine, inexpensive snapshot
camera. It doesn't have any manual settings to play with, but it
quickly and easily produces attractive images for a low price. With
an included set of rechargeable batteries and a charger, this
sub-$200 shooter is a great deal for anyone who wants pretty
pictures without a lot of trouble or cost."
