Initial Review Posted for the Fujifilm Finepix F20

Fujifilm Finepix F20 News Release Excerpt:
The FinePix F20's sleek, lightweight proportions disguise its technology-heavy specifications. Featuring a 6.3 MegaPixel 6th Generation Super CCD, RP Processor II and ISO 100-2000 sensitivity, the F20 delivers images that remain sharp and natural in bright sunshine, low light or with fast moving subjects. Fujifilm's Real Photo Technology cameras are among the only digital compact cameras to deliver high ISO at full resolution. This means there's no need for a trade off between high-quality, low light photography, and potential print size.         Full Initial Review

Initial Review Posted for the Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd

Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd News Release Excerpt:
Face Detection Technology operates exactly as its name implies, identifying up to 10 faces in a framed scene. Once faces are identified and prioritized, the 6.3 MegaPixel FinePix S6000fd adjusts its focus and exposure accordingly to ensure the sharpness and clarity of human subjects in the picture, regardless of background. And since it is hardware rather than software based, Fujifilm's Face Detection Technology works in as little as 0.05 seconds, faster than similar in-camera detection systems currently on the market or soon to be available.          Full Initial Review

Fujifilm Announces New Face Detection Technology

Fujifilm Press Release Excerpt:
Once Face Detection is activated, it automatically identifies faces in the scene and prioritizes them -- in as little as 0.05 seconds. It simultaneously displays a green rectangle around the top-priority face, and a white one around other faces before the picture is taken. Using this information, the FinePix S6000fd is able to focus more precisely on the main subjects and execute the best possible exposure.         Full Article

Sandisk Memory Cards at the 2006 World Cup

Sandisk Press Release Excerpt:
Berlin , Germany/Juvisy Sur Orge, France, 10 July 2006 – When Materazzi’s ball hurtled towards goalkeeper Barthèz with amazing speed and perfect timing, it was the photographers from Agence France Presse [AFP] that recorded every centimetre of its path from his forehead to the back of the net 1. These accredited professional photographers work with the best camera equipment and demand memory cards with the highest recording speed and capacities to suit their requirements. It was an honor for SanDisk ® (NASDAQ: SNDK) to be able to sponsor AFP with SanDisk Extreme ® III cards ranging from 2 GB to 8 GB 2.         Full Article

Better Travel Photography Tips

Karen Joslin writes, "The number one thing you can do to improve your photography is good composition. Camera manuals used to say that you should place your subject in the middle. This was because viewfinders showed more than would end up in your picture, but it usually looks boring. Instead, imagine three equally-spaced lines running across your image both horizontally and vertically. The places where the lines meet are the strongest areas to place your subject."         Full Article

Brief History of Photography

Scott Michaels writes, "The first photograph is considered to be an image produced in 1826 by the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce on a polished pewter plate covered with a petroleum derivative called bitumen of Judea. It was produced with a camera, and required an eight hour exposure in bright sunshine. However this process turned out to be a dead end and Niépce began experimenting with silver compounds based on a Johann Heinrich Schultz discovery in 1724 that a silver and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light."          Full Article

Helpful Tips for Better Photos

Phill Petrovic writes, "Keep an eye on the weather
Weather conditions can play a big part in setting the mood of your shot. Rather than waiting for the bright light of the midday sun, a misty morning in a forest can be the perfect time of day for that mood-shot. Take your time to choose the subject, then spend time walking around the subject looking for the best angle and lighting. Subjects with muted colours can sometimes produce excellent results. A field of wheat of similar yellow-brown colour can produce striking results when accompanied by a low-sun and long shadows."          Full Article

Advertising Photography Business Entry

TJ Tierney writes, "Advertisement photography is by far one of the most competitive forms of photography. This is mainly due to the fact that you can earn far more money than in any other aspect of photographic industry. Every day companies pay millions of dollars on advertisement; with one goal - to sell their product. Companies want to tell the reader that their product is best - so you must be able to match this."         Full Article
