New Winter
Photography Article Posted in Photography Tips

Viojieley Gurrobat writes,
"You have to remember a few
pointers though. Winter shooting can be tricky as
majority of the landscape is white and the
background is bright. When shooting a snow filled
area, the brightness of the snow may often cause
your digital camera to somewhat underexpose the
scene, thus making the snow to look gray. To correct
this, you might have to increase your exposure
compensation so the whiteness of the snow can be
appropriately captured. The time of the day you took
the picture can also have an effect in your image.
So if you want cooler shots shoot closer to midday
but if you want warmer shoots, shoot early in the
morning or late in the afternoon."

Low
Light and Long Exposure Photography Techniques

Eric Hartwell writes, "This can be difficult. But with
modern digital cameras you can see the results
immediately and therefore make any adjustments
straight away. Your meter may lie! Be ready to
change the settings (and give a longer exposure).
Night time shots can be very contrasty (bright
lights and deep shadows) - the camera won't be able
to cope with the extremities of exposure so just
change the settings yourself until you are happy
with the results! You may need to use the "B" or
"Bulb" setting to hold your shutter open for long
periods."

How to Achieve
Better Photo Results
Gem
Tullao writes, "To yield
better picture results, it is imperative that you learn the
tricks of your camera by reading the user’s manual carefully.
Some people would waste time wondering why their pictures turn
out bad with their digital camera, when all they needed to do
was read the manual to know that they have to press halfway
first to lock into focus. This attitude is perhaps influenced by
the false assumption that digital cameras are supposed to make
perfect-looking pictures with the least effort, and without the
hassles associated with conventional cameras. It would also help
to check out the website of your camera’s manufacturer to gain
information, tricks and techniques that may not have been
discussed in the manual."

Street
Photography Tips and Techniques

Henry Bateman writes, "Street
photography is, what all photography is, a snap shot. What
shines through is the photographer, his/her interpretation of
the scene, what they see in the situation, their reaction to the
stimuli, the art they see in the every day. Technicians take
technically correct and often pretty pictures. Visual artists,
whatever their medium, create images that stimulate the mind,
the heart and validate the human condition in all its guises.
Because, after all, pretty is in the eye of the beholder and
consequently very subjective, whereas art speaks to all who are
prepared to listen."

Candid
Photography Techniques and Methods

David Peterson writes, "Candid
photography is photography that focuses on
spontaneity rather than technique. Your subject's
focus is not on the camera, but on their current
task. So we're not talking about the photo albums
full of people looking at the camera and smiling
here! Your subjects are un-posed and the shots are
unplanned.
Candid photos are usually
simple photos without a lot of technical equipment
or any time taken 'setting up the shot'. Thus they
capture some wonderful 'slices of life'!"
