Fujifilm Finepix V10 Review Posted at DC Resource
DC Resource wrote a review of the
Fujifilm Finepix V10
and said: "Photo quality was a mixed bag: it really depends on
the situation. In normal outdoor shooting, the V10 took very nice
photos, with accurate color, good exposure, and pleasing sharpness.
In lower light levels the camera will want to crank up the ISO, and
if it gets above ISO 400 then things start looking more like Monet
paintings than photographs. The FinePix V10 doesn't perform as well
as the now legendary F10 in this area, and some other cameras like
the Sony DSC-W50 wipe the floor with it."

Canon EOS 30D Review Posted at Lets Go Digital
Lets
Go Digital wrote a review of the
Canon EOS 30D
and said: "The image quality was already good, but assets
such as Picture Styles give it that little extra surplus value where
the image is concerned. To top it off, the retail price is lower
than the introduction price of the Canon EOS 20D. Taking all of this
into consideration, we advise you not to preoccupy yourself solely
with the amount of Megapixels and arrays of setting possibilities.
It has already been mentioned here and there: the Megapixels race is
over and, in our opinion; it is time to focus on internal issues
concerning the image quality."

Understanding Shutter Delay in Digital Cameras
Ziv
Haparnas writes and explains, "A shutter delay is defined as the
time gap between pressing the shutter button to the camera
actually capturing the photo. There is no shutter delay in film
cameras as in these cameras the shutter button is virtually
connected to the shutter itself and holding down the button
results in the camera taking a photo immediately. In digital
cameras the shutter button is connected to a built-in micro
computer and holding down the shutter button initiates a series
of events that result in capturing a photo."

Olympus Stylus 720 SW Review at DigiCamReview
DigiCamReview wrote a review of the
Olympus Stylus 720 SW
and said: "Image quality was generally good, with good colour,
contrast, and detail, although images were slightly soft, and
saturation was slightly lower than I would have liked to see (this
can be increased by using some of the scene modes), as a comparison
the Olympus SP-320 had higher saturation on default settings. Images
had generally low noise, at most ISO settings upto ISO200. Images
were slightly soft straight from the camera and could benefit from
sharpening. The camera did a good job focusing the majority of the
time - and indoor group photos were surprisingly well lit despite
the cameras compact size and compact flash."

Sony Cyber-shot W50 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Sony Cyber-shot W50
and said: "As we said about the DSC-W30, the photos have decent
exposure and dynamic range, without the blown-out highlights
produced by many cameras in this class. Colors are accurate but
slightly oversaturated, especially the reds and oranges. Noise is
the biggest issue with these models: while barely visible at ISO 80,
smearing from the noise-reduction algorithm becomes evident at ISO
200 and starts to develop severe color shifts at ISO 400 and beyond."

Sandisk Sponsors Underwater Photography Competition
Sandisk Press Release
Excerpt:
The participating underwater photographers will have three days
to shoot their photographs before the submission deadline. In
order to get the best shots, divers usually dive to about 100
feet. The photographers are restricted to only 25 minutes of
shooting time per dive due to water pressure and air supply
constraints. There is no room for error. Fast read and write
speeds with their digital film cards as well as reliable, high
capacity storage are needed because while submerged, changing or
replacing flash film cards is impossible and every shot taken is
critical.

Steve's Digicams Reviews Another Coolpix L series Camera
Steve's Digicams wrote a review of the
Nikon Coolpix L4
and said: "The L4 is not what I would call a robust performer.
Power up to first image captured measured 3 seconds, much of which
is consumed by extending the lens. Shutter lag averaged 3/10 of a
second when pre-focused, including about 1/10 second delay in the
LCD viewfinder's live image; autofocus shutter lag averaged 7/10
second. When shooting in single exposure mode, the shot to shot
delay measured approx. 3 seconds between frames without use of the
flash and between 5 and 9 seconds with the flash, depending on
subject distance and battery condition."

Selecting the Best Black and White - Photoshop Tutorial
Learn
how to decide which source channels you should accent when
converting a photo to black and white. Most people think that
there is only one kind of black and white, but in reality there
are countless different combinations. For different photos, the
best looking combinations will almost always be different. Many
professional photographers experiment with many source channel
combinations and eventually develop their own unique black and
white style.

Canon Powershot SD630 Review at Cnet
Cnet wrote a review of the
Canon Powershot SD630 and said: "The Canon PowerShot SD630 is an
extremely solid ultracompact, with performance and photo quality
that more than make up for its few design flaws. It's a surprisingly
good shooter, and its feature set makes it quite flexible for a
camera of its size. That said, it's basically a more expensive
version of the PowerShot SD600 with a larger screen and no optical
viewfinder. If you're willing to give up the big LCD, the SD600
would be a more economical choice."
