Canon
Announces the ZR950 MiniDV Camcorder
The
Canon ZR950 is a relatively affordable camcorder with the
familiar MiniDV recording format. It has 48x advanced zoom, a
1.07 megapixel CCD image sensor, a multi-angle remote control, a
microphone terminal, an SDHC memory card slot for capturing
photos, and a USB 2.0 terminal (allows connectivity to
PictBridge-enabled printers). The ZR950 is available for about
$279.

The
Canon ZR930 is a relatively affordable camcorder with the
familiar MiniDV recording format. It is one step down from the
Canon ZR950 and lacks the SDHC card slot and a USB 2.0 terminal.
The ZR930 has 48x advanced zoom, a 1.07 megapixel CCD image
sensor, a multi-angle remote control, and a microphone terminal.
The ZR930 is available for about $269.

Announces the ZR900 MiniDV Camcorder
The Canon ZR900 is a step down from the Canon ZR950 and
ZR930 because it has a lower resolution sensor, less zoom, and
lacks some of the features offered by the other two camcorders.
The ZR900 has 41x advanced zoom, a 680,000 pixel CCD image
sensor, and a microphone terminal. The ZR900 is available for
about $249.

Sony Releases the HDR-HC9 HD MiniDV Camcorder
The
Sony Handycam HDR-HC9 is an HDV format camcorder that records
full HD video to standard mini DV tapes. It is designed for
advanced videographers who want to record HD video to the
traditional mini DV tapes. The HDR-HC9 features a Carl Zeiss
lens, a 3.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, dual recording, optical image
stabilization, and 10x optical zoom. It is available for about
$1,099.

Sony Releases the
UX20 With Three Recording Options
The
Sony Handycam HDR-UX20 can record high definition video on to
three separate media options: 8 GB of internal memory, DVD
media, or removable memory sticks. The HDR-UX20 features
1920x1080 recording resolution, face detection, a 2.3 megapixel
CMOS sensor, the Bionz image processor, dual recording, 15x
optical zoom, and a 2.7" LCD screen. It is available now at most
major retailers for about $999.

Sony Releases the
UX10 With Two Recording Options
The Sony Handycam HDR-UX10 is a lot like the UX20 but can
only record high definition video on two separate media options:
DVD media or removable memory sticks. And it is also available
now but for $799 instead of $999.

Panasonic Releases the World's Smallest HD Camcorder
The
Panasonic HDC-SD9 is a high definition camcorder that records to
both SD and SDHC memory cards. It is designed to be the world's
smallest and lightest flash card HD camcorder. The HDC-SD9
features optical image stabilization, a Leica Dicomar lens,
high-speed burst shooting with still images, and a 0.6 second
start-up time. It is available now for about $799.

Announces the HDC-SD9 Hybrid Camcorder
The
Panasonic HDC-SH9 is a compact hybrid HD camcorder and can
record onto either an SD (or SDHC) memory card or to its
built-in 60-GB hard disk. At full capacity, the SH9 can record
about 29 hours of full-HD video. The HDC-SH9 features
5.1-channel surround sound, optical image stabilization, a Leica
lens, and high-speed still photo burst shooting. This camcorder
is available now for about $1099.

The

Announces the Stylish SDR-S7 SD Camcorder
The
Panasonic SDR-S7 is a stylish SD camcorder model with an
ultra-compact, lightweight design making it ideal for users
constantly on the go. A 16-GB SDHC Memory Card allows up to
approximately 13 hours 20 minutes of recording. The SDR-SR7
features 10x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD screen, a Sub Record
button on the front of the camcorder, and a 0.6 second start-up
time. The SDR-S7 will be available in May 2008 for about $299.
