Avoiding Camera Shake and Blurry Photos

Marinda Van Zyl writes, "Camera shake is the most common cause of blurry photos. The camera will select a slow shutter speed in low light situations where you’re not using flash. If you handhold at this shutter speed, you will have camera shake and there’s nothing you can do in the post production process to remedy it. So let’s look at a couple of ways to prevent it before you take the shot. If you don’t have a tripod, place your camera on a stable surface like a table."         Full Article

Separate Subject from Background with Selective Focus

Marinda Van Zyl writes, "Depth of field (DOF) is the distance in front of and beyond the subject that appears to be in focus. It is influenced by three factors.  The smaller the aperture (higher f-stop like f16), the greater the depth of field. If the lens focal length and shooting distance stays the same, the depth of field is greater at f22 than f2.8."          Full Article
